Spear Track

Caiguna, aboriginal for 'spear track' is located 182 kilometres east of Balladonia and 64 kilometres west of Cocklebiddy and it's traditional landowners were the the Ngadju and Mirning peoples. In 1841 Edward John Eyre and his expedition passed within 20 kilometres of the present day Caiguna, and on 29 April tragedy struck when John Baxter was brutally murdered by 2 fellow members of Edward John Eyre's expedition. In 1930 the Western Australian Historical Society erected a memorial for John Baxter and can be viewed 20 kilometres south of Caiguna.

Caiguna Attractions

Caiguna Blowhole

Located approximately 5 kilometres west of Caiguna is the Blowhole. Follow the sign posts.

Nuytsland Nature Reserve

4 WD only - a number of small caves and collapsed caverns can be found. Visit "Dead Dog Cave" which is about 7 metres deep and you can find the remains of a mummified Tasmanian Tiger.

20 kilometres south of Caiguna.
