In the north, monsoonal influences produce two definite seasons known locally as "the wet" (October to April), when the coast is subject to tropical cyclones, and "the dry" (May to September).
Society & Culture
Darwin, the capital is situated in the north-western corner of the Territory. It is the only capital city in Australia that has suffered serious attacks during its history. The first being the Japanese bombing, and the second being Cyclone Tracy which completely leveled the city.
