Fleurieu Peninsula wines are cheeky, fruity and full-flavoured and home to the world-renowned McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek wineries, which are are said to rival those from Barossa Valley. There are 4 distinct wine regions to explore, which include McLaren Vale, Langhorne Creek, Currency Creek and Southern Fleurieu. McLaren Vale stalwart D’Arenberg has been harvesting grapes for over 100 years.

Enjoy superb wine and intimate cellar door experiences only a short drive from Adelaide. McLaren Vale is only 30 minutes along the expressway south of Adelaide, and is home to 100+ cellar doors and a wide range of locally-grown produce. McLaren Vale is the gateway to the Fleurieu Peninsula and is nestled between pristine beaches from Port Willunga to Sellicks Hill, and the rolling Mount Lofty Ranges. Langhorne Creek Wine Region is home to almost 6000ha of vineyards & award-winning boutique wineries. Bleasdale Wines have a range of fortified wines, and Lake Breeze Wines have their award-winning Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon.

Distilleries

The Fleurieu Peninsula also has boutique distilleries that produce small-batch gins, vodkas, brandies and liqueurs. Situated on the waters edge in the river port of Goolwa is the Fleurieu Distillery.

Beers

Fleurieu Peninsula is also home to brewers who are well-known for their limited releases and experimental brews. Vale Brewing was created by a couple of craft beer loving mates from Adelaide who founded The McLaren Vale Beer Company in 2008.

  • Smiling Samoyed Brewery - An award winning brewery in Myponga. Experimental strong, hoppy, dark brown ale is a hybrid of styles that sits somewhere between a strong scotch ale and a big hoppy IPA.
  • Goodieson Brewery - Set in a gorgeous location on the flat of the valley at the back of McLaren Vale you can taste their range, or just have a chilled beer out on the terrace.
  • The Steam Exchange Brewery - Enjoy a quiet ale on the deck or take in the river views from the Goolwa Wharf at the River Port of Goolwa.
