Mandurah’s Crab Fest showcases Mandurah to national and international markets. The Crab Fest attracts more than 120,000 locals and visitors to the Peel region.
The Channel 7 Mandurah Crab Fest celebrates 20 years this year by winning Gold for the 3rd year in a row at the WA Tourism Awards, for Major Festivals & Events. The Crab Fest will be representing WA at the Australian Tourism Awards in Launceston next year.
The Crab Fest wouldn’t be a Crab Fest without celebrating the native Blue Manna crab!
There are 3 ways to go crabbing in Mandurah:
- hire a houseboat which can be catered to include crabbing gear, and chase crabs along the Mandurah waterways.
- hire a pontoon style boat or dinghy, that seat up to 6 people, and drop nets as you meander the canals and estuary.
- walking the lengths of the estuary knee deep in water with a crab scoop
Crabbing gear can be hired from various locations around Mandurah. To protect the Blue Manna’s sustainability, ALWAYS pay attention to the correct sizes of crabs to catch & what to throw back.
